Last Jan. 29, 2016 Team Galing at Puso senatorial candidate Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian participated in UP Economics Society (UP Ecosoc) The Rundown 2016, a youth leadership forum, which was held at the University Theater in UP Diliman.

ABS-CBN news anchor Karen Davila hosted the event.

Along with 13 other senatorial candidates, Cong. Win answered issues about divorce and the spendings on higher education. He emphasized that “I am not afraid of the church, [and] I respect the church,” when asked if he was afraid of the said institution after mentioning that he is in favor of divorce.

Kuya Win reiterated that divorce is not the answer in ending marital woes rather, a mechanism that would hasten help for wives to get out of abusive relationships is the answer. It is a fact that annulment is a long and tedious process.

Moreover, when asked about tertiary education, Cong. Win was quick to answer that abolishing tuition fees in SUCs (state universities and colleges) is just right. It could be noted that he is proposing for the passage of the Free Higher Education Act or House Bill 5905, in which college education tuition should be free to all those enrolled and will enroll in SUCs.

Kuya Win pointed out that less than a percent of the annual budget would be used should HB 5905 will push through. When he mentioned that abolishment of tuition fees, a loud roar from the crowd covered theater.

After the forum, Kuya Win mingled with the crowd. We heard him entertaining questions from students. Way to go Kuya Win! May you be among our country’s senator come election on May 9, 2016.
